On with the story.
Gloria started doing Income Taxes and Bookkeeping in 1969 working for a friend in Kalispell, Montana. After a few years she became dissatisfied with the way her friend had been dealing with customers and decided it was time to venture out on her own.
She started working out of her home in Kalispell in 1972. In 1980, she met her current husband while looking for some part-time employment between tax seasons. She then opened North Star Tax Service in Kalispell in late 1980.
At this time North Star was doing general business accounting by computer and doing income tax returns by hand. In 1985, they expanded the Tax & Accounting business into Billings Montana. At the same time she started doing the tax returns by computer. This helped handle the volume of the growing business. In 1987, she closed the Kalispell branch of North Star Tax Service and became a permanent resident of Billings.
Here she continued the Tax & Accounting business. In late 1990, her father-in-law became ill with Parkinson's & Alzheimer's disease and unfortunately, had to close North Star to assist in caring at home. But that did not stop her as she maintained all her accounts from home. Keeping up with technology, she has always purchased the latest and greatest software and hardware to keep up with the big boys.
In late 1995, while doing accounting for a company located in Colorado Springs, Colorado, her brother (who resides there) asked if she would be interested in opening a Accounting and Tax Firm in the "Springs". "Why not?" says she. So now she has an office located in the fine community of Colorado Springs. That is what started G&L Accounting. After working there for two years, she has now moved in to a new location at 1826 E. Platte, Suite 203. It is a really nice office and will be even better once everything gets moved in.
